It’s my favorite time of the year here
at the Science Museum of Long Island. I do love Summer, but Autumn brings so
many wonderful things to the table. September always brings back schools for
field trips, which is a part of our curriculum that is really near and dear to
my heart. I can remember being a young lad, going out to various local museums
and preserves and doing many of the same activities that we do here at SMLI.
Also, to give a little shout out for the
month of November, I want to plug our Afterschool programs a bit. November
brings some great topics. The kindergarten program is called “On the Hunt” and
they will be going on treasure hunts and learning about star navigation. The
first and second graders will be solving mystery’s in a month called, “Who Did
it?!?!” The third and fourth graders (the group I teach) will be making a simple
machines that will work together to achieve a common goal. And the fifth and up
group will be looking really small, by studying microbiology, a topic about all
sorts of creatures invisible to the naked eye.
My
point is, there are some really exciting topics coming up, so sign up now and
be a part of it. We look forward to seeing you!
