Hello Fellow Scientists!!!!
Happy Fall everyone! SMLI finished up its annual summer camp
program at the end of August, and my goodness did time fly! It was a wonderful
summer and I think everyone, children and teachers included, had tons of fun.
But now school is back in session, which means lots of things for us here at
the museum.
At the end of last week we had our first Holiday Workshops
of the season; Seas the Day and Amazing Autumn. If you didn’t know, even when
school is closed, SMLI is open for young scientists. Children grades Nursery-7th
can spend their day off with us doing all sorts of scientific experiments,
activities, crafts and more. This year we started what will hopefully become a
new tradition; pumpkin sling-shots! One of the teachers, Mr. Dan, worked hard
building a sling-shot that the kids were able to use to shoot small pumpkins
clear across SMLI’s field! It was a great surprise for the kids, and they
became experts at using the sling-shot by the end of the day.
Speaking of pumpkins, Halloween is just around the corner!
SMLI is already in full gear, preparing for our annual Family Halloween Event,
which will be taking place on Halloween night this year! Families can expect
lots of fun activities including; spooky animals, Halloween crafts, spooky
walks through the woods, and more! Hope to see you there!
Please give us a call today at (516) 627-9400 EXT. 10 to register.
Only $20/CHILD and $5/ADULT
